Imagine Gathering 2025 From Festival to Freeland and back

Attending the Imagine Music & Arts Festival this year wasn’t just a weekend escape — it was a deeply restorative, heart-opening experience that reminded me why I do what I do. I return to Whidbey Island carrying not just gear and stories, but new friendships, creative collaborations, and a profound sense of purpose.

Let me share a few highlights and the future vision it inspired.

A Midnight Sound Journey: My Deepest Takeaway

One moment stands above all the rest — a 3:30 AM set under the Xadvi Dome. The space was intimate, maybe 10 people total, and we were bathed in a flowing, soul-touching set of tabla, sitar, handpan, and flute. The vibrations were not just heard but felt. That hour of music — soft, celestial, and pure — was the most healing thing my ears experienced all weekend. It felt like the universe itself had cupped us in its palms and whispered, you are held.

The Campsite Sessions: Healing in the Dirt and Dust

One of the most magical things happened when I simply set up my massage table outside my tent. Word got out — and a line formed almost instantly. I spent both mornings doing full 45-minute sessions, and the gratitude I received was overwhelming.

There were stickers, love signs, hugs… and best of all, the kind of deep energetic exchanges that only happen when two people meet with full presence.

A particularly meaningful connection came when I met Massage therapist Christopher Canty. After we traded sessions, I left feeling so recharged, so seen — and now, I have a new friend and colleague whose healing work matches my own energy and intention. That kind of synchronicity is rare and precious.

Art, Synchronicity & Heart-Led Connection

Another unforgettable moment came when I connected with artist Erika Metz, the visionary behind the Love Your Heart installation from Rise Up With Hart. Her work had moved me deeply at last year’s Imagine, and this year, I got to meet her in person. It felt like a full-circle moment — as if the art itself had drawn us together to complete something quietly profound. These are the threads that weave magic into festivals like Imagine.

The Gift of Community Trades

This experience wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity and support of my local and festival community.

To Kaliah Burr, thank you. Your lovingly pre-cooked proteins were divine. Fixing food at camp became a joy rather than a chore, and knowing it came from someone who values both nourishment and healing made every bite even more meaningful.

Through a post in a Whidbey Facebook group, I also asked if anyone had a Yeti cooler to trade for a massage. Not only did one appear, it was delivered to me — and I made a new client and friend in the process. This kind of trust and connection fuels everything I do.

And perhaps one of the greatest blessings of the entire trip: a new friend, Crystal, from Orcas generously transported all my camp gear to and from the island in exchange for a massage session. This simple act of kindness gave me the rare freedom to tour Orcas Island on two wheels — It added a deeply relaxing and beautiful layer to the entire experience, allowing me to soak in the sweeping views, winding roads, and quiet serenity of nature. I’m beyond grateful for this trade, and even more so for the meaningful connection it created. I now have a wonderful new friend at an Orcas Resort and another bond that I look forward to building on.

One of the most rewarding exchanges I had at Imagine was with the crew behind Farm to Ferry, the legendary mobile kitchen known for serving up farm-fresh, island-sourced meals with heart. I first met Kurt and his partner and offered them bodywork as a trade for their incredible food. That one session quickly turned into more — I brought my trusty Black & Decker W900 into the kitchen itself, working on the entire staff right where they stood, mid-shift, surrounded by the aromas of roasting roots, simmering bone broths, and sizzling herbs.

It was an unusual setting, but the energy was electric — laughter, gratitude, and the kind of joy that happens when hands that have been in service all day get a moment of care. The crew was deeply appreciative, and the meals I received in return weren’t just nourishment — they were soul food. This kind of barter — exchanging healing for nourishment — felt like the purest expression of community. Farm to Ferry doesn’t just feed people; they create an experience of place, land, and love. I was honored to support their bodies while they fed ours.

Future Vision: The Love Dome Spa at Imagine 2026

Out of all this healing and connection came a vision. Next year, we’re proposing something beautiful: The Love Dome Spa — a co-created, heart-led healing sanctuary at Imagine Gathering.

What is it?

A warm, welcoming dome where healing is accessible to all, not just a luxury for a few.

What will it include?

  • Sliding scale services, starting at just $5–10 (like rosewater foot washes and smudging)
  • Massage, sound healing, tarot, craniosacral, hypnotherapy, hot towel treatments, facials, and more
  • A kids’ corner so parents can get care while their children enjoy crafts
  • 6 core therapists, 4–6 admin/volunteer staff
  • A ritual entry with sound and smudging, guiding each guest into presence
  • An immersive vibe — more than a vendor tent, it will feel like walking into a gentle otherworld

Why does it matter?

Because self-care should be a right, not a privilege. This space will make wellness services available at every level. Whether you have $5 or $50, you’ll walk away touched, seen, and cared for.

Want to be involved?

We’ll soon be doing an open call for collaborators, therapists, and visionaries. If you’re part of the Imagine community (or Whidbey’s healing scene), keep in touch — we want this to be a public collaboration, not a private club.

From Imagine to Freeland

I’m home now, grounded, and full of inspiration. The connections I made, the healing I gave and received, and the clear calling to co-create something meaningful — all of it now flows into the work I do here at Whidbey Massage Therapy.

If you’ve been thinking about rebooking, now’s the time — my hands are recharged, my heart is full, and I can’t wait to work with you again.
